Lilacs are bursting with aroma, but they are also bursting with goodness for your body. They have been used historically for aromatherapy and contain many health benefits, including increased blood flow. Good for your body and tasty, win, win!
There are many ways to use lilacs and tea is one way that is quick, easy, and delicious.
I have always been a hot tea drinker. However, my neighbor introduced me to a whole new world of cold teas. Now, it is what I drink all summer long.
This lilac tea is perfect for a hot or cold tea. It has a subtle flavor that is more like a flavored water. So, if your looking for a strong tea, this won’t cut it. But, what I love about lilac tea is it gives a hint of spring to your hot or cold water. Try both and discover your preferred way!
Ingredients
- lilacs
- honey
- water
How to make Lilac tea
You will want to pick a stem that has around 3 sets of lilac clusters per cup of water. When placed in a jar (stems and flowers in tact) it should equal to at least a 1/4 cup.
Boil 8 ounces of water and pour over the lilacs. You want to make sure that all the lilacs are submerged in the water.
Place a plate over the jar as it infuses. We want to make sure that all that goodness stays in the tea and doesn’t evaporate into the air.
Let sit for ten minutes.
Once it has finished infusing, strain out the flowers.
At this point you can either drink it plain or add a little honey to taste. I like to add just a touch of sweetness with honey. Now, enjoy spring!
